Stems elongated, cylindric, 1 to 1.5 dm long; axils of tubercles naked or containing at most a single bristle; central spines dark brown, one of them strongly hooked; flowers rather large, pinkish; inner perianth-segments acuminate, 2 to 2.5 cm long, often lacerate towards the tip; filaments and style pinkish, the latter paler and much longer than the stamens; stigma-lobes 6, long and slender, rose-colored.
