Echinocactus VS Epidendrum

Echinocactus grusonii VS Epidendrum secundum

I sowed an even (more or less) amount of each species in the pot. Who won this round? I think maybe the pumice was too large for the Epi.

For some reason I kinda like "competing" plants. I'll put two, or three, or a dozen, different plants in pretty much the same spot and stand back to observe the contest. Sometimes there's a clear winner. Othertimes not so much. It's interesting to try and predict the outcome. So it's the funnest when the outcome is not easy to predict.

If anybody wants to see a couple more pics of the Epi seeds competing... Growing Orchids From Seed Is Easy!

- Counter Strike: "Terrorists Win!" Just a joke. Echinocactus grusonii for now. :D

No idea how Epidendrum seedlings look like.
If your cacti mess in your job just forget about the job.

7george, the Epi seedling is the only green thing in the photo. It's easier to find than Waldo! :) "One seedling is not like the others..."
