Let's see your favorites!

Let's see a picture of your favorite plant. I know, if you're like me that changes all the time, but whichever one captivates your interest right now. Anybody have any special flowers out right now?

Hi everybody,

My favorite cactus is Echinopsis subdenudata. I am fascinated by the contrast between the dull appearance of the plant and the wonderful flowers:

But I'm also proud of being able to keep my Opuntia (Austrocylindropuntia) pachypus alive on its own roots:

And my favorite succulent, well recovered after a disastrous hail last year:

Although I don't have many hundreds or thousands of plants it's hard for me to select favorites - I love them all...

Favourites

Post by templegatejohn »

It's difficult to pick a favourite. Some plants appeal more at certain times of the year than others.

Here is my current favourite. At this time of the year it starts to colour up nicely.

That's a neat shot John. That plant is also known as Rebutia canigueralii.

I was just thinking, to the untrained eye, I'll bet that the unique coloration makes it appear sick. Cacti are funny that way.

I often give my cacti a little poke with a stick or something to make sure they are still alive. I always hate it when I find a squishy one.

John, that one, uh, looks a little, uh, well, nevermind! 8)

And Eduart, I love those shots! But ya know, as much as I love cacti, Echeveria have always been in my top ten favorite succulents (including cacti)! And that is a Beauty! I have always had bad luck transplanting them, any hints, gang?

Oh, Mine? Well, I am more into finding them than raising them, although I do have those seedlings! I'll send photos of those of mine in my in-laws' garden, which all have flowers buds:
Echinocereus reichenbachii perbellus
E. rectispinus neomexicanus
Escobaria vivipara vivipara

and a couple of Opuntias.

Magnus, stilllll working on sending Bill some stuff for you... sorry it's taking so long!

Of course my favorites are Opuntia and Cylindropuntia.
Thus far I have Opuntia cymochila and Clylindropuntia imbricata in my so called rock garden.

I will be adding starts of Opuntia santa rita, Opuntia macrocentra and Cylindropuntia bigelovii to my garden soon :)
Heres a pic of the rock garden (hillside) I'm trying to transform into a cactus garden-- Any suggestions welcome.

Good one, Bob!

How does one post photos to the forum? I want to show off the seedlings and the flower buds of the aforementioned plants.

And, yes, as I mentioned I like Echeveria, I feel that is in line with Sempervivum, etc., aren't they the same????? These are called "hens and chicks" by some, and if I'm not mistaken, house leeks in England (TG-Johnny?).

toodles,
kari
