My Neobesseya missouriensis v. caespitosus is about to bloom (only 1 1/2 inch in diameter)

They sure look very healthy! I'm going to try growing some opuntioids outside too (and maybe an Echinocereus?), all those nice winter pictures and so on got me started as well.

Bill,
I can relate to that experience from growing cold-hardy back in Minnesota on my Dad's farm. It was always thrilling to see the new growth!

Hello all,

I've got a gift for Easter today I would like to share with all of you:

My Epicactus "Sylter Frühling" got his first flower. I got the plant last year and it still is just the cutting with roots. But today it gave me a pleasure I cannot express. It is the first Epicactusflower of my life!

Too bad that you can't smell it aswell. I'm sorry for you!

Happy Easter for everybody from

Yippiee! You've just helped me identify my own plant! I have that same one, but did not know what it was. There is no doubt that mine is the same as yours. Very fragrant too!

Congratulations on your first flower, I hope you have many more!

Hello Daiv,

that fragrance is great, isn't it?

I'm glad you found out what wonderful Epicactus you have. I'm fond of Kurt Petersen's hybrids and try to get all of them.

But as you know I just started with my collection of cacti. I'll have to wait until all will flower.
Only the "Mexa Kelly" has got some buds. That one I bought last year already with roots. When the flowers open I will take pictures for you.

spring...

I live in a tropical country (Malaysia) and we don't have spring. I am so excited to see these spring images (and a bit envious too).
Bill, this is the first time I am seeing green blooms. They're magnificent! :D

Bill, did you smell your flowers ? I have a small plant like yours, only one flower last year but many buds this year. I was amazed by the color of the flower as well as by how good it smells.

Very nice flower Polly, I haven't seen that one before, and I love the scented ones.
Like the E. viridiflorus too Bill, and your form is a lovely shade of green.
