It's Florida, he has a green house. What else can I say?

And last but not least this lil opuntia. A friend of mine said he was out deep in the woods and came upon a patch of these. Any ideas on an I.D. and is it native to florida as was found miles into deep woods??

Andy,
It looks like one pad to me.
It looks like it narrowed down in the middle.
what type it is I am not sure. It looks cool tho!

I guess if the plants were trying to grow in an upright state then it would be O. ammophila, if the pads stay real low then O. humifusa. O. pusilla is possible too but I don't think it grows that far South.

It is one pad, that looks like it started out narrow and started to widen at the tip. I kina wish he took a photo of the patch. I am gonna get it potted up asap and hopefuly it will grow quickly to get a good id. Thanks for all the suggestions Andy!

Daiv thats the exact same thing i said when i saw it! I cant wait to see the blooms. Also cant wait to see that thing when its 3ft tall!!

Nice ones, Dustin!

How big is the Opuntia? Looks like it would fit in your hand?
My first guess would be O. pusilla. Having no spines is probably a result of growing under other plants/vegitation.

These are fun plants. When they are wrinkled like that and you water them, they suck it up so fast you can almost see the pads inflating!! I sometimes come back after 20 mins and give it a second drink as it's so greedy. I have several rootings of these and sometimes hold back on the water on purpose just to watch them get fat so fast

This unknown Gymno has partialy opened now for the 6th day in a row. For some reason it will not full open. Also for some reason the plant continues to stay red no matter if its in pure shade or pure sun. Any ideas on I.D.?

Nice plants! I think the Ariocarpus retusus is a bit confused as to what time of year it is.

beautiful stuff! I would probably go with pusilla for that prickly pear too, but grow it out for a while.

Strange Gymno. I'm not sure what it is and why it won't green up even in shade.
