It's been a while since I've been here. I've had lots of flowers since July, and lots of pictures to go with them.
M. elegans - yes, this has been flowering nonstop since early July
M. pringlei - the first flower of many
N. magnifica
Echinopsis somethingorother
A couple of succs too while I'm here
P. nelii
Euphorbia sp. ?

Looking back over the earlier posts, I noticed Tony attributed the plants to Altmans. I was under the impression that there was a different supplier on the east coast. Do any of the pots or tags have "The Cactus Collection" on the side?
I'm just curious as there always seems to be more variety at stores in the east.

All Cacti are succulents, but not all succulents are Cacti

Thanks Saguaro!Saguaro123 wrote:Awesome cacti and flowers!
Love the N. magnifica
Yup, the pots they came in all say "The Cactus Collection". Most of these came from Lowe's, as I don't have a good local supplier for these things.daiv wrote:Looking back over the earlier posts, I noticed Tony attributed the plants to Altmans. OK, well that is Altman's trade mark, so I'm sure that is it. I know they have a east and west locations. They must operate fairly independantly to give the larger variety out east.legomaniac89 wrote: Yup, the pots they came in all say "The Cactus Collection". I really have to start checking this place more often. This is a great forum!
In another thread somewhere around here, I was trying to figure out how I was going to keep these things dormant for winter. My garage gets too cold and my basement is too warm, and I don't have any connections with someone who has a heated greenhouse, but I finally came up with a pretty good solution. At my work, the back room is heated just enough to keep it above freezing during the winter, so I picked up a few of those 3x2 plastic containers, uprooted all the cacti (that was a chore ), and placed them in the boxes. My boss limited the space I could use, so I couldn't keep them potted through the winter.
It's working great so far. I've only had a couple casualties, and they weren't real healthy to begin with. I sold a few off, so if spring ever comes again we can start this all over again!
