Just noticed that one of the stems on my E Inermis has shrivelled up. I only got it a few weeks ago and just noticed this today. The shrivelled stem previously looked healthy like the other ones.
I did move it to a window sill these past few days so I'm think it could have been the change in temperature?

Hard to say. Removing it was the right thing to do, in case it's infected with something.

Thanks! Yeah glad I removed it as it was the only one deteriorating.greenknight wrote: ↑Fri Apr 01, 2022 6:19 am Hard to say. Removing it was the right thing to do, in case it's infected with something.

I have had exactly the same issue with my E. inermis.
Not sure what is causing it. I interrupted waterings and that's it for the moment. I'll keep one eye on it and come be here for updates.

Stems do die off. Its part of the growth cycle. It's not always cause for alarm.

Yes. Maybe it is just natural senescence of the older stems...
That seems to be the case of my plant. The stems that are shrivelling are the older ones.

My Eu. inermis grows slowly but steadily. Every now & then, a branch shrivels and dries out. I keep an eye on it, but up to now saw no cause to interfere.
I do so hate to cut into Euphorbias as you always have to have a Kleenex dipped into hot water to stop the bleeding.
It looks like the normal life cycle to me, too, just as mikethecactusguy has written.
After looking at your pics again: You have a very nice plant here, Hero878. Looks pretty young, is it? -- And the cut off stem looks perfectly normal to me.
I have found that succulents & cacti often look different when young or adult or old. My old plant (>16years) has such arms as your cutoff, and they tend to get grey at their base, too.
So to me everything looks fine according to your pics.
