Marvelous! Definately a nice cactus place to visit. Tell me, what is the wonderfully thorned plant in picture 36? A type of Alluadia? How big is that stem?

Hi Plantcelot,

Synonyms are generally old names that are still in use by some. At one time some of the synonyms may have been considered different species but have since been lumped under the same species. Taxonomy is always in flux, especially with the advent of DNA studies.

If the plant can be grown on it's own roots, as in it's not some flourescent color or something, you should br able to degraft it. I've had success with some. I have a Mammillaria luethyii I want to try the same with. Yes I would definately wait untill spring if not summer. Let the cutting dry well ...

Hi Tony, I live in the part of our country where Feros are native. Almost all get fairly gnarly looking on the sides. The most attractive view is of the new growth in spring. Some sun burn is common and unavoidable as these plants grow best in direct sunlight. Your plant will probably be fine. The d...

The sad part is that it was a transplanted Saguaro. Probably reclaimed from the original building site by law in Arizona. If the plant had been left in it's original location this never would have happened. They take considerable time to re-root themelves after a transplant and many don't make it. T...

Welcome Todd :D

Looks like you've put together a pretty nice collection in only a few years. And you've captured quite a few of them in bloom. Bravo! I especially like the Stapelia flavoporpurea (probably spelled that wrong) it's one on my wish list.

Hi Bill :D I love the Opuntias for their color changes. Mine don't do the purple so much because of cold but reward me every spring with the new growth and buds. Gymnocalycium ID

Happened to be on the east side of town yesterday and stopped in at one of my favorite cactus nurseries, B&B. A number of the plants I bought had no tags and I asked them to identify them but somehow we missed this one. A gorgeous blue green bodied Gymno with upright rather than recurved golden ...

Haworthia ID

Labled Haworthia species. Looks a bit like my H. truncata cv. "Lime Green". But I thought H. truncata leaves were dichotomous (LOL did I spell that right?) You know what I mean. This one is starting to take on more of a rosette form and two others I got at the same time are almost complete...
