Contest 28: Silhouettes and Shadows

Post by CoronaCactus »

Hey folks,

I seem to have missed August...where did the month go! I've also been working on that plan for these pic contests, but i promise next time it will be presented.

Ok, so going off the suggestion thread, i really liked the idea of silhouettes and thought i'd throw in shadows as well.

Any situation, cacti or succulent showing off a silhouette or casting a shadow is what this contest is all about.

Deadline is Tuesday Sept. 16, 2008

Good luck to all!

I turned up this photo of my plants waiting to go out and play. Its one of the oldest I have of my plants in this country and I hadn't seen it for years. To me it is fascinating to see how much some of these plants have grown.

Ok, I had to really look for a picture that qualifies. Apparently I like to have cacti visible when I photograph them oddly enough.

So here is a pair of Ferocactus near Catavina, Baja California. It is a silhouette with shadows...

Edit: I think they are F. gracilis
All Cacti are succulents, but not all succulents are Cacti

This one is a claret cup cactus growing on the ledge at a canyon rock wall. It was shot during my recent field trip to the White Sands Missile Range.
