New Arrivals from LA

Post by TimN »

I took some pictures of the plants I bought and/or acquired on my travels in LA this past weekend.

A group shot...
Image

Albuca circinata spiralis - I saw a picture of one of these and thought it was cool, so when I saw it I couldn't resist.
Image

Gymno denudatum - Got this one for my sister.
Image

Mammillaria duwei - pubescent central and radial spines!
Image

I filled out my nascent miniature Mamms collection with a M. hernandezii
Image

A nice luethy...
Image

A saboa saboa
Image

An M. theresae
Image

And I'm taking another shot at raising a Peniocereus greggii...
Image

Tony kindly gave me this pot of Pereskiopsis. Lookout seedlings!
Image

I bought a couple of plants from Corona Cactus on my way home for good measure!

Astrophytum capricorne v. aureum...
Image

Escobaria minima - Nice little plant with very dense spination.
Image

Echinocereus subinermis - Darryl had a really nice clump, so I got this one to add to the collection.

Whew! It was a whirlwind weekend. I got some nice plants. Even my wife thought the miniatures are nice.

*I updated/corrected the names from the original post.

Oops, thanks for the catch on the herrerrae/hernandez. They don't even look similar!

Thanks for the updates on the names, D!

the P. greggii looks to me like greggii v. greggii, that is, the Chihuahuan Desert form. As Greg and I have mentioned before, be sure to shelter it from winter rains.

Very nice Tim.

What's in the plastic bags in the background? Are those seedlings?

Look at that! Even the grafting stock looks cleaner than some of my plants

Thanks for the kind comments, all.

Yes, the plastic baggies in the background are my seedlings. The batch in front are the oldest, the ones behind were just planted a few weeks ago. I posted some photos of the seedlings in "Raised from Seed" not too long ago.

The reason I really wanted to make it to this show was to find some nice/unusual plants, and that worked out in spades! I was a little disappointed there weren't any Astrophytum caput-medusae. The mini-Mamms more than made up for it though.

Ian, Tony is responsible for the nice Pereskiopsis. All of his plants looked fantastic. His grafting success has really encouraged me to try grafting some seedlings once this stock gets a little bigger.
