What ever form it takes it should be good. The schedule says that it's "sponsored"

Arrgh...how could they offer the All Day Cactus Nursery Tour ("with plenty of time to...shop") AND Special Plants in Native Habitat tour both on Monday, and only on Monday?!?

I got confirmation that those are the only sessions, and I think I have to do the Special Plants in Native Habitat tour...does anyone want to an ad hoc "power shopping nursery tour?" I will almost certainly rent a car...

I think it would be more fun to do the nurseries with a smaller group anyway. The thought of all those C and S fanatics crammed into some of the smaller nurseries and lined up at the cash registers is kind of daunting to me. I think the habitat tour will be better.

Maybe CactiGuide can throw together a small group to visit some nurseries? The funny thing too is I'd imagine the best of the local nurseries will be vendors at the convention. The mountain coming to Muhammad and all that. Harder for the habitat plants to make it. :-)

I intend to spend the day after at several of the nurseries. I'm bringing my van and trailer empty and intend to fill them. I'd be happy to go with or along with anyone who wants to go. Arid Lands is a sure stop Robert. Peter's right about the growers selling at the convention, but you never know what they might think is too unusual to bring. I wouldn't miss the outing to the desert with the guys who know for anything.

Peter, agreed, might be better in a smaller group. And you make a good point about that mountain stuff...but as Buck mentioned, you never know.

Plus this would be my first visit to real cactus/succulent nurseries, which will be fascinating.

Buck, by "day after," I assume you mean the 16th?

I am so dense sometimes...just made the connection CSSA Convention in Tucson, Aridlands in Tucson...d'oh! Thanks Buck.

I'm already anticipating excess baggage charges on my flight back :)

daiv, great idea...would not have thought of that.

Robert - I'm sure that the people at Arid Lands know your address by heart. You could accumulate your purchases during the day and I'll bet they would be more than happy to send them to you.

I'm official!

Just got my confirmation e-mail from Mindy.

Not sure if Aridlands know my address by heart, but they might when they have to rent a truck to deliver my new purchases after I'm there :)

Well, it's getting close now, only 6 weeks. If you will be attending, please PM myself or Darryl and we will have nice name badges made up for you with your CactiGuide name as well as your "real" name. Please include your wife and or significant other and we'll make them up as well.

I know I'm looking forward to meeting as many C-G members as possible. We're still on for Sunday evening for a meet and greet.

Just an FYI that you can still get the CSSA discount rate at the hotel ($159 vs. about twice that), despite what the CSSA website says. You just have to call the hotel directly.....I know coz I just did that :)

See y'all there!
