Seedling pics

Post by peterb »

Another check in on the sowing I did last November and February. All of the seedlings got an inadvertent drenching from a wild thunderstorm last week, and some have exploded into growth since then. So far, only some have minded the heat (110 day/80 night). Those are on a south facing inside windowsill.

Some of the 5 month olds:

Echinomastus warnockii:

Echinomastus dasyacanthus:

Looks great, Peter! Looks like you've got the A. myriostigma varieties covered!

I have several growing myself. They seem to be pretty eager to germinate and survive from seed.

It looks like your almost ready to do some pricking and repotting...

Egads! There are more still? That is a whole lot of variety there Peter. I'm thrilled that they are doing so well for you.

Looks like Echinomastus johnsonii was the most difficult eh?

Those are nice and healthy. What's an Echinocereus waldeisii? Is it a Wilcoxia type? How's the Blossfeldias? The heat got to mine and now down to about 15. I don't know how that little plant makes it in the wilds.

Thanks all. I've been on a trip up through Peach Springs and then to Meadview and back home again, since yesterday. Lots of pics on the way, especially of Agave utahensis nevadensis and Echinocactus polycephalus xeranthemoides, as well as plenty of wild and wooly Echinocereus.

Chris, E. waldeisii is a Wilcoxia, and all I know about it is what Steven B says in the MG seedlist..."5 cm. yellow flower." Someday, I hope.

Andy, pics of the brachyclada comin' right up...as soon as I upload the 130 pics I took yesterday and today out in the wilds...

A few more seedling pics that got lost in the shuffle the other day.

Tray with Stenocereus gummosus (three left rows) and Fero wislizeni (these started out in 2 2 inch pots...)

The only O. basilaris brachyclada to start putting on more "adult" growth so far. The others are just riding out the heat, I think:

Neoevansia viperina:

Peniocereus greggii from the Peloncillo Mountains:

Thanks! Way cool to see one from seed. They're a pretty neat Opuntia.

Nice astro collection in there
I have some seed of Glandulicactus wrightii and Mammillaria blossfeldiana, seeing yours i'll have to put some in and see how they go.
I've got a few seedling pots coming along now to, i'll upload some pics when my camera gets new batteries!
