You are the best editors!

Post by daiv »

Hi all, any of you who browse about the "guide" here, please readily point out any errors that you might notice. If a picture doesn't enlarge, a name is spelled wrong, or whatever you might notice - please bring it to my attention so I can fix. (I won't feel like you are nit-picking! 8) )

Also, for you donors, the "no-pic" list only shows species that I have not one picture for. If you have pictures of flowers, fruits, young plants, mature plants, subspecies, forms, etc., those will be helpful.

Again the idea with this site is to have lots and lots of images that you can use to compare and help you get a more solid ID. So we want to show as much of the range in variation for each one.

Finally, as I still haven't added all the images donated so far, it may take me a little bit to get it all done, but it will happen eventually.

PS. I'm not quite ready for Cultivars yet. :|

In the synonyms list, shouldn't "Notocactus mignificus" be "Notocactus mAgnficus?"

Daiv, maybe a little ad can be made in the escobariapages.
There is an Escobaria tuberculosa mentioned. I have that same one as Escobaria strobiliformis. See for reference in Rod & en ken Preston-Mafham.

Ariocarpus fissuratus encounterability: 'common worldwide'
so according to this its equal with opuntia microdasys and cereus peruvianus???

i noticed that under Astrophytum on the list the pic of A. myriostigma features a 6-ribbed plant, which is atypical for the species.

which pereskiopsis species is the one widely used for grafting?

http://www.cactiguide.com/cactus/?genus=Pereskiopsis

i never knew there were so many types of pereskiopsis... many photos are missing. does the one used for grafting actually flower?

I think including cultivars is a great idea, given their popularity at current. although do we really want to have an Astrophytum cultivar + hybrid page...? it will probably outweigh the rest of cactiguide.com!

and whats going on here:

Hi- Escobaria tuberculosa is now the recognized species, with strobiliformis considered a synonym. ("strobiliformis" isn't even mentioned at all in The Cactus Family).
