New Miles Anderson Book?

Post by TimN »

I was perusing Amazon and found a reference to this upcoming book.

The Complete Illustrated Guide to Growing Cacti and Succulents: Everything you need to know about identifying, buying, siting, care and maintenance.

By Miles Anderson.

It's available for pre-order via Amazon right now.

Just and FYI for cactus book junkies...

Hrmmm, might just be a cover change, or they use a different cover for hardcover/softcover versions. as the same title came out in Jan 08, i think. Had a Pereskia or Periopskis on the cover.

As far as i know, he only wrote 1 book.

Presumably a rehash of something he wrote before he died - if he only wrote "the Cactus Family" it must be bits from that???

It's Miles Anderson of Miles to Go nursery, still alive and definitely kickin'! Ted Anderson, no relation.

Anyway, I've heard glowing reviews of the book, which makes sense, as Miles is one of the most skilled growers around.

What I found is that the same book is published with two titles in two different formats. The last book appears to be new and will be available in 7/08.

I have them listed in their order of publishing.

it is easy to ask Miles himself about the book. miles2go.com is his on-line catalog of plants. He used to have his book there as well

I looked on his site for reference to his books when I was originally trying to figure this out. I think I'll send him a note to see what is in the upcoming book. If it's a rehash of previously published stuff, I think I'll pass.

I'll let you know what I find out from Miles.

I spoke with Miles down in Tucson last weekend and asked him about the upcoming book. He said it is an update of the existing books out there, not a new book from scratch.

He said he's hoping to get copies to sell. The first time I was on his site he had one book listed, but that went away pretty quickly.

That's all the news for now!

This book now shows availability from the publisher (amazon.com) in JAN 2009 (The Complete Illustrated Guide to Growing Cacti and Succulents: Everything you need to know about identifying, buying, siting, care and maintenance.)
From reading this post, it appears it was available earlier this year? Has anyone here got it?

I don't have that one. If it contains EVERYTHING I need to know, that would take the fun of discovery out of it. :happy8:
