Hey all
I sowed some Lophophora seeds a few months ago (not sure about the species, the guy that gave them to me did not know).
They germinated pretty well. Today I noticed some unusual growth in some of them. It seems as though they are offsetting (maybe I am wrong).
is that normal for seedlings to split at such a young age?
Cheers

Re: strange growth of Lophphora seedlings
It happens sometimes when the growth point gets damaged, or when growth is interrupted somehow.

I agree. It can be clearly seen in the picture that one of the seedlings (third from top left) has damaged apical meristem. Such seedlings sometimes proceed with normal growth (as some of the seedlings in picture), some can form two or more heads, and some can develop abnormal growth (cristate or monstrose forms).greenknight wrote: ↑Thu Feb 29, 2024 7:52 am It happens sometimes when the growth point gets damaged, or when growth is interrupted somehow.
