I second seed pods. If they're anything like the E. obesas I own, you'll want to cover the pods with something to catch the seeds if you want them (the seeds will "pop" out when ready)

Some mesh or screen type material works well, string or rubber band to secure it

You want them to dry out as they ripen, don't use plastic.

Yep, plastic bags would "cook" them. Think micro greenhouse generating a lotta heat. Fine muslin might do well.

finding cheesecloth was fun until my brain kicked in. Painters use it to strain Paint. Tile & Stone people use it to polish surfaces.
I lost a few pods. They just disappeared. Maybe a bird?

Wouldn't think birds would mess with them - maybe they're immune to the toxin.

I recognized them instantly because they look exactly like the seed pods of the mole plant (euphobia lathyris) - which can shoot seeds 50 ft (and never seemed to bother our moles a bit).

In some Mediterranean species the seeds get shot 60ft (18 metres) and then get carried by ants back to their nests (because of an oily appendage on the seeds) where they enjoy the ant waste as a fertiliser when they germinate.
