Try eBay:

You won't have any problem getting seeds, although I'm not sure about bringing plants into Hawaii from the mainland. CoronaCactus (ccnursery) is offering C. aureus v. longispinus as a plant -- you might want to contact the owner Darryl Craig through eBay and ask him if he's able to help you get it through USDA channels. Great guy, excellent grower, and the cacti I purchased from him in 2012 and '13 are still going strong.

Thanks Steve. I've heard some shady things about seed purchases on Ebay, so I wanted to try elsewhere first. I contacted Corona a couple months ago, they said they aren't taking new orders because they are rebuilding their greenhouse.

Try the online seed lists on Cactus Mall. Seeds usually go through the post OK and the Continentals and E. Europeans will usually answer English emails, plus also take PayPal which removes the problem of currency conversion. PayPal also insures you if the order is not delivered or not up to standard.

Surprisingly I once found a Coleocephaloceres in mixed cacti at a Garden Centre, but I have never seen one again. I guess it was some cactus supplier clearing their benches of a few more choicer remnants into the general selection for a clean start for the following year.

For plants you could also search their online American & Canadian nurseries list, but no doubt importing from Canada would have the same restrictions as importing from Mexico or importing from elsewhere in the world.

Probably a few dead links in the list but most should work:

If you take simple precautions, you can help yourself greatly with eBay, and there are many good sellers. For example:
Only buy from specialists in seeds, with a good selection of cacti / succulents (e.g. avoid Chinese sellers who stock absolutely every kind of domestic, engineering and technical goods, and also do seeds)
Have a good look through the seller's shop. Avoid them if they sell obvious nonsense (blue tomatoes and blue strawberries spring to mind), and if significant numbers of the photos don't accurately match species
Go only for sellers with good feedback, especially if they get feedback on seed germination of correct species (as opposed to rapid delivery of mislabelled grass seeds!)
If it seems too good to be true, it probably is!

I understand your concern, and eBay is a minefield -- unless you know and trust the sellers there, your instinct about staying away is correct. Now here's another possibility for you -- Bach's Cactus Nursery in Tucson, AZ:

info@bachscactus.com
520-744-3333 (open Tuesday-Saturday, hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. AZ time)

Don't know if it's true these days, but Dan Bach used to sell many Brazilian species, probably more than we would ever find at other US nurseries. Worth a shot, anyway.

Bach's (Tucson) - as mentioned above - has had C. goebelianus plants for sale the past year, but they don't ship to my knowledge.
Arid Lands (aridlands.com) has C. aureus plants and does ship (www.aridlands.com).
Succulenta (www.succulenta.com) offers seeds to non-members (after member orders are satisfied) and the past few years has had several species of Coleocephalocereus available.
Pedro Lopez Artes usually has some seeds of this genus available (http://mercheowl.com/wonderfulcactus/wo ... -SEEDS.pdf).

I can probably spare a few seeds of C. purpureus - send me a PM with your mailing info, and I will send you a few.

Thanks for the info DaveW. Cactus Mall will definitely be a place I'll be ordering from post COVID. Unrelated to plants, I ordered something from the UK just over 2 months ago and it still hasn't arrived. Yikes! I'm sure its due to the reduction in flights. I'm old enough to experience the changes made at the airports post 911. Is it weird that I'm longing for the good ol' days of just being lightly groped at the airport by TSA without all the added inconveniences we are dealing with today? HA!
