Systemic for Mealybugs Product Name (UK/Ireland)

Post by ElieM »

Hello, I have used the search tool but the results are either outdated or not product specific.

I need my fellow cactus collectors from the UK/Ireland (Maybe Europe) to let me know which specific systemic insecticide they use for Mealy bugs.

What I need is a specific product name that I can simply search for and buy (Im not looking for answer that say just use anything that contains acetamiprid)
And ideally it wouldn't contain fertilizer and can be used for cactus.

I need this urgently but I don't know which product I can buy for this, my searches on amazon didn't lead me to anything that is specifically suitable for cactus as you guys know our plants' care are very specific and different from normal fruit/veggies/plants.

I will need to apply it now within growing season as sprays are working but not stopping mealies to hide in other plants or the ones that aren't visible (near roots or bottom)

Thank you!!

I think most of the (chemical) systemic insecticides (especially those containing imidacloprid) has been banned (or at least restricted to professional use) in the EU now. There are some to be used as sprays I think.

I need to deal with Mealies at root level, what to do if not systemic? Sprays won't work in that case.

As Teo says if it works the EU will ban it! The Americans still have chemicals available banned in the EU.

It's like cocaine/heroin - banned but available if you really want it and try hard :-)
For root mealies you can clean the roots and drench them in a water/soap/alcohol mix for a day
