Aloe haworthioides

Post by CactusLover »

Can't take credit for it as I got it like that. Does anyone know why it sometimes grows a baby instead of a flower? And most importantly, what do I do with the baby when it gets bigger?

Producing an offset on a flower stem does happen sometimes with various Haworthia species, but is unusual with Aloes, although A. bulbilifera is an exception.
You can cut it off and try to root it to make a new plant.

I had it on one of aloe hybrids which bloom and form plantlet on a flower stock.
You can keep it on a mother plant until flower stock dry or let it grow a bit, cut off and root.
They are very easy to root.

Thank you both for your advice. I think I'll keep the baby on the flower stem for as long as I can, then try to root it.
