Need help deciding for new cactus

Post by gfalcomer@gmail.com »

I have one cactus and am looking to buy another one. I need a cactus that does not need alot of heat, needs only a moderate amount of sunshine, is small, and can handle 20 degrees celsius temperatures in the winter and temperatures in excess of 30 degrees celsius in the summer, as well as humid air too. It should also be inexpensive. If anyone has an idea for a breed of cactus like this please let me know. Thanks.

Hi, I would think that most of the species of Echinocereus would fit your criteria, but choosing a plant is a matter of personal choice. Daiv's suggestion seems to be a good one if you are not familiar with the needs of various species of cacti.

There is also several varities of Opuntia (prickly pear) that fit the bill. Several varieties are native in Canada. Downfall is they really don't stay small.
