Hi all,
I got a lovely Monadenium pseudoracemosum, and after it's usual winter sleep I have not managed to wake it up...and it's the end of june already. Any ideas ?
I think it could be lack of heat (also at night) as this plant grows in Tanzania and Zambia, where I guess it is pretty hot the year round. I've looked up the climate around there and apparently there's a period of high temperatures at the end of the dry season, and it only starts raining when temperatures start dropping a bit, which could explain why it is so late...but I'm making assumptions here.
This is how it looked last summer, though towards the end of it. Now it's just a dry stump, though very much alive, as the roots look healthy, even greenish.

Re: waking up monadenium caudiciforms
ok, I'm adding something here. I looked up other succulents from Tanzania and some have temperature information going like this :
"Temperature spring to autumn: nocturnal at least 18°C and diurnal up to 38°C. Wintering: nocturnal 12°C and diurnal 20°C or more."
That is hot !! I'm trying this
