adenium pruning and root growth question

So I re-potted and chopped the top off my Adenium Soco. It's a late summer/winter grower. Will a light watering encourage root and stem growth or will it only start recovering when it thinks it's time?

I honestly got tired of it's slow growth. About an inch per year. It's maybe 12 years old with no branching in sight. So I'm just going to try for low and squat like your typical common adenium bonsai form.

There is an experience using cytokinin paste to wake up sleeping buds, so it can be applied to sleeping buds in sight.
Based on practice, do not use the paste on more than 2-3 buds. If 4 or more buds are treated, the plant is likely to give growth to all treated buds, but later it will still concentrate on the growth of a few amount treated buds, while odd "growths" will remain on the stem.

C. Prunning and cut off the branch :
Prune : (cut off some leaves , from 6 month old seedling) for adenium arabicum / Thai socotranum in order to maintain the beautiful and short branches form .
Cut off some branch : for adenium obesum (4 months after sowed ), the results is ,big caudex form . also, adenium somalense , should cut off the apex to make the compact form.
