Akward roots Kalanchoe tomentosa

Post by ihoptdk »

I recently received a panda plant that was a cutting of another. Unfortunately, it must have been a far off shoot because it's root is nearly perpendicular to the leaves. Is the root at the very base of the leaves more like a trunk and it's OK to be partially exposed? Or do I need to find a more appropriate pot to make sure I have room for the awkward roots? And if there happens to be a tiny root that coming STRAIGHT out of the soil. Is it acceptable to remove that, or is there a better solution?

A picture would help.

I don't really understand the issue without a photo.

Plant the cutting vertically with the base of the stem only slightly buried, and the roots should sort themselves out.
