Okay, this would be mine in the summer. Lost some of these plants, this is about a third of mine total.

Re: Cactus contest 86: Cactus collections
Well, to tell you the truth, getting a good photo of my cacti right now would take a lot of effort. And that effort im directing toward my exams. Now , i did make a suggestion on top down photos of plants, though common and cheesy, seem to be very popular and somehow pleasant to look at. I mean, ive browsed cacti photos on deviantart, and some of the better ones are either plants in native habitat, flowers, or rosette centers(top down). Same could be said for good wallpapers on google. As you can see, and as i know, good photography requires good knowledge of lighting , angle, filters, etc etc. So sad to say, some people will have an unfair advantage in this contest(no offense).
Re: Cactus contest 86: Cactus collections
Im gonna assume that nobody will be posting pictures anytime soon...
Re: Cactus contest 86: Cactus collections
I have just had a look on the computer but I evidently deleted the pictures of my greenhouse staging's after I used them elsewhere. As we are in the winter in the UK and as I run an unheated greenhouse many of the plants are now in the house therefore the staging's are half empty, so a greenhouse view would have to wait until next growing season when the plants go back.
Re: Cactus contest 86: Cactus collections
I know. most of my plants are on a shelf or a windowsill.

So what is the rule - one photo a nickname? 1st post doesn't say it.

I don't have decent photos of my collection. It is situated at different places, shelves and windowsills. Will show you a photo of Colin's collection taken some years ago. These are maybe half of his cacti.
It is taken in Canada so for the winter all plants should fit into a room.
Some more of the same collection.

I had deleted the processed pictures of my staging's in my 18ft x 12.5ft greenhouse, but in looking for something in Photoshop Elements I found the unprocessed RAW files still there, so here are the two side staging's in 2015. Unfortunately I did not get a picture of my centre bed I am afraid, plus I also have a smaller 8ft x 10ft greenhouse with mainly propagations plus miniature Opuntia's and Pterocactus in it.
Staging's are 3ft wide and 18ft long and top shelf 18 inches wide and 18ft long. Top shelf mainly Turbinicarpus, Lophophora's, Strombocactus, Aztekium, Pediocactus and Encephalocarpus nearest end and Rebutia's and Sulcorebutias far end with some Echinocereus in the centre.

No Ferocactus in recent years, I think there are a couple of larger Soehrensia's in it and a 5ft Trichocereus pasacana. I am just replanting the bed at the moment.
You may be interested in the collection of a friend of mine who is Secretary of the Maltese Society. This greenhouse is built on the flat roof of his house.
This is his garden greenhouse. He grew the Espostoa from seed in the 1960's. Just shows what you can do with a Mediteranean type climate. He has had to cut holes in the polycarbonate greenhouse roof sheets to let some of the Cerei out when they reached it.
Edit;- First link I posted did not work since it was dead, but found Google had cached the article and a video if you click on it. The commentary is in Maltese, but the plants are the same in any language and he has grown most from seed.

I specifically remember a ferocactus with an ant nest problem. Maybe that's someone else.DaveW wrote:No Ferocactus in recent years, I think there are a couple of larger Soehrensia's in it and a 5ft Trichocereus pasacana. I am just replanting the bed at the moment,
