G'day kieth,
I had probelms with A. retutus from 2012 many died I think bad soil.
I think fissuratus can tolerate against various conditions, which is more than retusus but many retusus seedlings can also survive.
The photo is retusus v bicolor sown seeds in 2011. They are in 8.5 cm square pots.

Your A. retusus are also very beautiful. I like them like that - compressed and flat, very natural looking (apart from colour which is, like Keith said, very green :D ). I have seen too many specimens in cultivation that are bloated and ball-shaped. I guess it's because of excessive watering and fertilization.

G'morning Nino_G,
apart from colour which is, like Keith said, very green
The sunlight in summer in here is very strong and I cover greenhouses over by 50% shadecloth between mid of November and mid of March.
It may affect the body colour.

On the other hand, each species show slightly different body colour. Retusus v bicolor shows very green body but standard retusus is a bit pale.
Seeds of retusus v bicolor and standard retusus were sown on same day.
A photo is attached for your information.

Many my Ariocarpus plants are in 12.5 cm square pots. I found some of them were difficult to water because Plants and pots were too tight.
I reoptted 2 plants last week. I bought new pots at a discount shop near my place. The pot material is mixed sawdust and plastic.

Two cacti were in flower yesterday.

I am sure I did not buy the cactus on 2nd photo but I am not sure how I got this one.
I also am not sure the name but it may be a Mammillaria schiedeana because the cactus is in flower in autumn.

G'morning Spence,
What's your biggest A. myriostgma? You've got some real monsters, I had no idea they could even get that big!
I attached 3 photos for your information.

Photo 1: My biggest myriostigma, nudum form, 20 cm in diameter

Photo 2: My tallest myriostigma, cv Onzuka, 16 cm in diameter and 30cm tall

Photo 3: Biggest myriostigma I have seen, 35 cm in diameter and 80 cm tall
The cactus was planted on limestone riverbank. I visited there as a volunteer for weeding and took the photo in 2007.

Just one cactus was in flower yesterday. It was 3rd flowering for the cactus in this season. It is the turning point of season from summer to autumn currently.
