Rhipsalis who?

Post by Tony »

My guess is R. Grandiflora. Can anyone confirm this is correct?
It took about 3 years to grow this size and bloom from a single six inch unrooted stem.

Wouldn't know to make an Id on your plant Tony but from some of the pics. that I have seen it looks very similar. Just wanted to say what a gorgeous flower, so delicate and intricate. Beautiful!

it is, isnt it. :)
Not at all showy, but nice just the same.
Im drawn to these long, lanky, rambling things for some reason.
They are just so weird.

R. grandiflora seems very likely, it's a lovely plant, they are certainly worth growing, sadly here in Somerset, we don't get many Rhipsalideae or Hylocereeae in the shops

I have one with flowers like that, but that is not one of the plants on my Rhipsalis list, and 3/4 of the labels are gone, so I am confused! Yikes!

That is what I am getting when I key out your plant in this Rhipsalis key I found.

http://rhipsalis.com/keys/key-intro.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Of course I'm doing it based on pictures without the plant in hand but it seems right. I wish the person that made that webpage would fix the font though, hard to read!

I have been using that web site for years, and somehow missed the key. #-o
I still have several other unidentified Rhipsalis I will attempt to use it for. :)

Thanks everyone!

Now that it's blooming: is this R. elliptica? Lightly scented. Thanks, Sue

I looked at crispata but the pix on the guide show a more scalloped edge to the leaves. It's pretty whatever you call it & I love anything that blooms in the winter. This has been going in flushes since early January. Sue
