Echinopsis Eyerisii babies

Post by debbieb »

When I went to check on my cactus outside, I was surprised to see what appear to be cacti babies growing on the parent. I didn't see it do this last year, but also, last year, 3 babies appeared in the dirt at the base of the parent plant. I have attached a picture of what I am talking about. My question is... 1. are these babies? and 2. do I have to do anything with them or will they take care of themselves as far as dropping off and rooting?

1: yes, they are
2: i think they must grow a bit, and then you can cut them off, and let them dry, and try to root it.

Yeah, I'd leave them, like Phil suggested. But with a pile like his -- you certainly can do both :D
Once bitten by the cactus collecting/growing bug, there is no known cure!
There's no 12 step programme for Cactaholics...so I shall just have to get some more!!
