Other magicians with water.

Post by hablu »

Since a day or two in my garden: Amanita muscaria. deadly poisonous, but very beautfull. They grow around a group of birches on poor not disturbed ground. These pics are from last year november. Now there are only two of them (but we didn't have real rains yet). Last year more than thirty. Harry

I really enjoy looking for and photographing fungi, Harry. It was good to see these, we too have them but like Cac Joh ours are mainly under pines, although not exclusively. As you can imagine this is my season of contentment, out in search of the little guys :)

Hallo, Harry,
your title about Magicians fits very well. In German, Amanita muscaria is called Fly Mushroom - not because of the insect, but because medieval "witches" used the mushrooms as drugs for flying hallucinations.... (Lophophores williamsii sends his respects.)

I have read that you can cook a good, healthy soup from the young mushrooms, though. (I will never try!)

No, don't mess around with Amanita's. two youngsters overhere got in the hospital in very bad condition not long ago. Every year there are some victims. Harry
