Is this something to worry about?

Post by Tiggy »

Pachypodium Lamerei which you very kindly identified for me a short while ago.Very healthy looking plant on the whole, but today I noticed these black spots at the base of the three spines in certain places. Also there is a substance resembling a very pale jelly but which sets hard like a resin.  Have been trying to photograph this as well but my camera dosen't seem to be capable at such a close range. Or maybe it's just me tha isn't capable of understanding the camera :? My husband thinks it is where a leaf has dropped off and then produced a jelly substance which hardens to protect it, but I'm not so convinced as at the top of the plant it hasn't yet produced leaves. Any ideas on this one please? Now all I have to do is try to upload the photo  advice on cure if needed please would be very much appreciated.Photo has gon onto another topic. Sorry about that, one day I'll get it right first time.

Pachypodium are not cacti, so perhaps it would be better to ask in the Succulent Growing Help forum to get more attention from growers who don't grow cacti?
