Here's what the Huntington says about the Schick hybrids:
Our climate ranges from winter minima in the 20s F in winter to the 100s in summer. Echinopsis hybrids are amply hardy to this temperature range. Under dryer conditions they may even tolerate colder temperatures in the single digits.
They're also a great source, if you're not familiar with it:

Here after winter 2011/12, down to 10F, all my tricho died (except huntingtonianus or so called identified very blue with black spines, in microclimate just next to the east wall of my house) :

- pasacana
- tersheckii
- schickandenzii
- spachianus

died outdoor in ground, with no protections on them.

My fear is the winter rains we have here down in Louisiana. The cold has never bothered my Trich's. I leave them outdoors year round but they do have over head protection. I would enjoy placing them in the ground but do not for fear of losing them.

Rich - Don't have any experience with hybrids, but I had several pachanoi & bridgesii in pots on glassed-in porch. They were good to 24f before I "punted" & pulled them in from a couple of colder nights (<20). They're outside & doing great now.

There's no 12 step programme for Cactaholics...so I shall just have to get some more!!
