Hello Christer,
you are correct with your assessment:
The first cactus is special. I love those spines. They remind me of my favorite bamboo: Phyllostachys nigra (black bammboo).
To keep plants in such good shape and have them flower without a greenhouse at the latitude you live at is truly remarkable and admirable. Good job growing these "babies".

Yes, it do remind about that beautiful bamboo Phyllostachys nigra. I really like that one
This winter it was easy to get the temperature down to 10°C (50°F), or lower, in my "sleep" window.
And this spring I've got a lot of sun and heat in my windows that trigger the plant to put out buds

Christer,
interesting. I have bad heaters in my house and so it stays in the 50s and dips to the 40s sometimes. My cacti when they are inside seem to like it.
(a lot better then being outside in below freezing temps, at least)
Nice plants you got. I too am amazed at how many cacti you have that you grow in your windowsill

The real problem I have is the light. If you put my town at the same latitude but in North America then you will end up here at the green arrowPeterthecactusguy wrote:Nice plants you got. I too am amazed at how many cacti you have that you grow in your windowsill
And here it is for real in Sweden.

Not much light in it though, it's more twilight at that latitude during summer nights.
Was born some 110km north of Christers location and still have all my family there apart from a kid brother that lives right under Christer's location pointer lol.
@Christer: if you ever visit the local hospital and get treated by a mid 20's something male nurse with the lastname Olsson say hi from his emmigrated big brother
