Wow Darryl, stunning photos you took and love the one in pic #3..

I had a hard time picking out which picture i was gona use, daytime pic after the blooms opened at night or a more darker pic.

I still love how beautiful the blooms are on this one and how well i was able to get pics to turn out..

Wow, that's a lot of entries in one day! I'm struggling to think of a single night-blooming species that I have.

i spent about 3 hours blacking out the background on this one then decided that it was not in the "spirit" of the competition, after all it is only meant to be a bit of fun.

It would be fun to have an entire collection of night blooming plants, except some of the night flowering ones need very different care than others.

E. scheeri actually flowers for me during the day/late afternoon, but it does remain open all night.

Buck, that huntingtonianus is just awesome.

I am a fan of night blooming cacti and grow many of those (from Arthrocereus to Yungasocereus), mainly to produce seeds. All their flowers are great, so I am not able to select a special one. Most are documented in Cactiguide.com

CactusJordi,

I'm glad you were able to photograph an excellent cluster of the fruit of Peniocereus viperinus. I had similar thoughts for my neighbor's Harrisia jusbertii but could only find a single fruit. The fruits have their own beauty. Thanks.

Really great plants and photos everybody!

Here's one that you don't see very often, and one you don't think of as a night bloomer...but it is!
The first 2 pics are from a few weeks ago, i only noticed them early in the morning. The last 2 pics are from last night...i was paying attention this time ;)

Wow! This is a fantastic contest thus far!

Ralf - I was so close to posting my S. validus pic

Image

I refrained because I thought the stained pot was too ugly for a contest. :? Anyway, nice to have two Selenicereus in the contest at least.

@CactusJordi - way to think outside the box and post fruit pics instead of a flower. :thumbleft: That didn't even occur to me!
