Do they generally tend to do flowers or pads, then? Doesn't worry me too much; I do rather like pads too
Also, I've noticed my M. polzii has got a couple of pups coming too! I'll get a picture once they're big enough to be discernible...

And happy Opuntia = happy NekoPeterthecactusguy wrote:Neko,
the buds whether flowers or new pads seem to me to come out at the same time. Might depend on the species tho.
BTW new pads=happy Opuntia
Speaking of happy cacti, the temperature reached about 71° today, and 92° in my little greenhouse - looks like my Mamm was really happy about that!

Three new pictures to share today
Stenocactus multicostatus, about twice the size he was on arrival (Still tiny, mind )
Rebutia miniscula, doing what Rebutia do best. I love that purple-ish sheen on the petals!
Mammillaria bocasana var. multilanata - a two week-long member of the collection announcing his arrival in style

The Rebutia in particular is going nuts with its flowers - had five bloom so far, one aborted, and there's another nine buds waiting their turn.
That said, I've counted 21 buds on my M. spinosissima so far. I can't wait for that show, when it comes!

No, all three protrusions were pads. They're growing like crazy now though - I'll have to try to grab a picture when I've got time, just as a kind of status update. The largest one's grown about 3" in 17 days!

nice flowers on the mamm and the rebutia! I also really like the looks of that steno, will that flower too?
With apologies to the late Professor C. D. Darlington the following misquotation springs to
mind ‘cactus taxonomy is the pursuit of the impossible by the incompetent’ - Fearn & Pearcy, Rebutia (1981)

Not this year, by the look of things - no buds have appeared yet. I'm hoping for one next year thoughStrUktO wrote:nice flowers on the mamm and the rebutia! I also really like the looks of that steno, will that flower too?

Some more pictures to share
First up, Matucana polzii, who's evidently feeling a bit maternal
Secondly, O. macrocentra growth - it's amazing what a difference 3 weeks makes!
Finally, more flowers!
E. viridiflorus ssp. viridiflorus - only half-open, I think, but the weather's been comparatively cool these last few days.
R. miniscula, having a second round
My current beauty, M. spinosissima, doing his best not to let the Rebutia hog all the glory!
