I'm not sure what happened to tho outcome of the January contest, but looks to me like Jordi is the winner. You get my mazal tov for a beautiful photo!!
I sure hope I can get and grow all the beautiful Mammillarias shown in this contest and its comments.

Great topic, Darryl. And now to get out my umbrella for taking the February pics!

Oops Darryl, Hope I did not upstage you and steal your thunder. I get impatient sometimes and forget you are 10 hours earlier than me...

Again, great fun and I really like what the contest adds to the site, above and beyond the beautiful photos.

Thanks for your comment Tony. It seems funny though - all I did was take the pic - the Mammillaria did all the work of growing the flowers. :sunny: (Just realized this almost a chlorotic cactus smiley!)

It was a great contest no doubt about it. I did employ Brad's rating system and individually rated each photo. I finally narrowed it down to a two-way tie so I got my daughter to help me decide the final one I voted for.

Lots of good choices in this contest!! Cheers to everyone.

Jordi, I like your image a lot - firstly because you have at least 13 of these desirable plants in the image, and secondly, because of your choice of a single-set flat of A. asterias for the background.

Both parts represent a unique approach not available to many. Individual plants are nice but nothing beats seeing massed plantings where you can see the range of a species.

Cheers ... GeneSf
