I see you fired up another contest already! Not sure what I'll have to post for this one yet.

Also not sure what to vote for in the special contest. Man those are some good ones!

That's a good idea for a contest! Now I got to take out a cactus and start taking pics! 8)

The other contest is also a good idea. It was very hard to choose!

Hrmmm, am i running them too close together? Not enough time to prepare?
feedback...?

We spend 99.9% of the time admiring the parts we can see and don't really even realize what wonders lay beneath that top dressing.

I don't really think the topic will produce many artsy pics, but i'm hoping it will produce some odd or rare plants and some education of whats going on down under there ;)

Ya, i thought the special contest idea Michiel had was a good one, but thought 20 at a time was a bit much for a winners battle. If i had of thought of it sooner i would have done it with 10. But 12 is cool.

Cactus root tip, close up and personal

Post by Dalesmicro »

Hi, just wanted to agree with Daiv: the more contests the merrier. Also, I wanted to add a picture showing the relationship of the tip to the root, and another taken with combined reflected and transmitted light. I debated which one to enter and finally chose the one with the most detail.

I do like a nice taproot even if the plant on top is a bit frazzled :)

Hey, triple good luck: this is a real interesting theme! And also I just found the contest in time for adding a picture. And I even had a picture to add without gigantic expenditure. Incredible!

I do like all of the pictures!

Hi Ruth,
I'm so sorry, but actually, you did not make the deadline :(

I was busy last week and was late in closing the thread. The deadline was June 3, your post was June 8. I would love to make an exception as you have been itching to get in on these contests, but i cannot manipulate the rules, very sorry Ruth

What a pity... And I was so happy! Of course I accept that you can't bend the rules, Darryl, but still... I would have been such a good chance. Maybe next time!
