New member from Australia
Hi all,
I'm new to the hobby, and have been collecting a bunch of plants over the last 6 months or so. Really enjoying the flowers! Don't know why but cacti plants have become my favorite. I can see myself enjoying growing them for a lifetime. Have a hothouse set up, and around 130 different species already. Plus succulents, pachypodiums and ponytail palms. Also becoming a euphorbia fan, as well as anything that develops a caudex! Have a bunch of stuff I'd like to ID.
Great website! Very impressed!
Thanks
Ben

Just noticed I was member no 2000, must be a wealth of knowledge amongst all the members!
Congratulations! You are forum member 2,000. Maybe Daiv will give you a very special welcome, but I am afraid, no prize.
Kidding aside, I myself am happy to have you aboard and also of course for the fact, that our forum membership is growing by leaps and bounds.
With your huge selection of genera and species you will soon be in good shape to send digital images of your plants and perhaps even give some growing advice.
Welcome to the cactus and succulent forums!

Thanks for the warm welcome John and Harald. Good to hear there are many Australian people on the forum!
I took a quick stock of my plants today, and did some research on the site. Was able to discover some names, and find the correct names. A lot were labelled with old names such as notocactus = parodia. I will have to retag many plants!
Compiled the following list, total plants not different species. Had more than I thought, small pots don't take up much area. A lot I have only identified genera.
My list:
Adasonia 1
Adenium 1
Agave 6
Anthocalycium 1
Astrophytum 4
Brachycihiton 5
Beaucarnea 21
Calibanus 1
Cereus 43
Cleistocactus 2
Coleocephalocereus 1

hi welcome don't be in too much of a hurry to retag, one thing you will learn is that cacti names come and go .....i have a feeling that dna surveys will change things yet again, there are very few noto's that i would be willing to tag as parodia and most eriocactus i would not tag as noto'sBoily wrote: I took a quick stock of my plants today, and did some research on the site. in short most genus names and changes therein are open to speculation and i get the strange feeling that dna testing may not change things that much for many people
