The alpine plants are beautiful. Do you grow any of them George?

Thank you for sharing, lovely!

Little extremes from today. The smoke is from forest fires.

Well, I had grown some of these for several years but have lost plants afterwards.jerrytheplater wrote: ↑Mon Jul 10, 2023 1:05 pm The alpine plants are beautiful. Do you grow any of them George?
So I am trying to see them every when in their habitat. Here is bloom of Sedum lanceolatum at ~2450 m above sea in Rocky Mountains.
And the habitat view as of yesterday.

Just got back from one of the more epic hikes of my life...... Mt. Whitney! Summited on Friday 8/4/2023.
And of course the trip involved some cacti... There was a fair amount of Opuntia basilaris around Whitney Portal up to about 8500 feet.

Wow - you have been up much higher then me. I did it the easy way last weekend, by shoreline. But smoke did not help to save those views.

In the same lake (upper Kananaskis) there is a brook, starting on this tiny peninsula...

Re: It is season for hiking again
It was a perfect cloudy day for hiking and photos.
"Cactus to clouds" trail.
Easily found the cactus.
Just a couple of those blooming, most was with buds that day.
It is not easy to be alive.
Clouds looked far away to me so I turned then back to the city life.
Almost a Facebook story, ha?
