I am sorry about the ‘messy’ post. The pics didn’t want to behave, they placed themselves as they pleased :?

That guy with the red spines: Ferocactus pilosus var. pringlei?

I agree on "some Gymno". Maybe G. affine or marsoneri ....? -- Hey, look out for G. pseudoragonesei. It has the colourd soines & the growth pattern.

The others: No idea, sorry.

I still don't understand what is it. Are there axils? What is plant's size (scale to compare)?

I will freely admit that I am still not sure were the axil is on a non-leaf plant.. (as in clearly visible stems/leaves). For some reason the cacctus is difficult to photo. Seen IRL, it have 6 distinct heads. The plant is about 4.5 cm. high from the soil line. Not sure how ‘internationally’ ( when it comes to size) a common lighter is, but tries it as a size comparison.

I like such cacti riddles and when I see unusual unknown plants I buy them for fun to grow and to ID.
This one is very interesting. Is it a bunch of different seedlings or one plant? I'd try to separate if different.
Reminds young Mammillaria heyderi (aff.)

Thank you very much Anttisepp 🙂 Me too, mystery plants adds an extra dimension to the fun of growing plants. I havent dared separating them, and from what I can see, they seems to be connected, not different plants potted together.

I am now debating wether to repot them ( all of the newcomers) in bigger pots with better substrate( all seems to be potted in a all organic medium) or not.. Several of them have roots growing out of the bottom. I am hesitant though, since it’s late in the year and the growing season here is pretty much over. Since we both live in Scandinavia, would you have repotted now or waited until spring?

Found another Mammillaria from the same batch ( me nagging the local florist for more cacti, seems to be fruitful. 😃) could this be Mammillaria sheldonii? ( 5 cm. pot)

Nice Mammillaria, quite possible sheldonii. Let's wait for flowers to ID. I replant plants all year round when it suitable for me. I'd divide and plant just now, they have enough time to adapt before winter. Anyway in spring they'll began to grow normally without loosin g time.

Thank you Anttisepp 🙂 They are now repotted, in larger pots and a better mix.

#4 reminds me Escobaria missouriensis even I see no grooves on tubercles. Better wait for flowers for last two plants.
If your cacti mess in your job just forget about the job.
