Mary's Home Plate Cafe
So I went on a quick weekend road trip to the San Francisco Bay Area, and I had forgotten how well everything grows in the bay. So jealous. I didn't have time to take many pictures, but I stopped in Calistoaga, California for lunch and I took a few snapshots of the cacti growing around the place. Incidentally, a pad from the Opuntia fell on the ground so I nabbed it. If you know what species it is please let me know.

These pads remind me Opuntia quimilo, that is also a South American plant.
If the flowers come out to be red that will be even more likely.

I'd like to see that when those plants are on bloom, looks like it will be quite a display.

When I saw this cactus, I didn't think it would be very considerate to take a cutting, but I did find a pericarpel (I think it what it is) laying on the ground, so I took it home and replanted it. It's already showing some pretty excellent new growth. I'm excited.
