With age, they will go 5, 8, 13. The one in the green circle is a diffusa, and can go to 21 ribs.

Yeah I knew it was a diffusa got two of them the other one was smaller in its own pot. Any ideas on the varieties the williamsii are especially the one with eight ribs it gives loads of seeds would like to name the.

Without more info on the source of the seed they were grown from, any attempt at variety names or locales is very hard and mostly just a matter of opinions.

A lot of the so called varieties are only population variants selected in cultivation and not typical of the species in habitat. Sometimes distinct populations, but often merely variation within a population.

This is a new one to me. Anybody know anything about it? Why do all the "new names" always look virtually the same as what we already grow!

All I have found on the Web is:-

"Lophophora. R938 caroli-veitchii. (syn. Spec. San Francisco)"

Anybody know who the "R" numbers concerned are?

R938 is attributed to Walter Rausch for Lobivia tiegeliana. No idea what that Loph is. Never heard of it.

That's a catalog number, not a field number. Concerning the name, since there is no authorship, it is likely to be far-fetched…

Is it grafted offset?

if grafted offset means a shoot that came up from the rootstock after an attempted graft then yes it is but that cactus is really just a shoot from the actual cactus (the cactus is not grafted)

I have a Lophophora that I got about 4 years ago and it didn't grow since. Yet I know it got flowers (that I did not see) because there were some seeds left that I discovered recently.

When I removed the seeds I slightly damaged the Lophophora (see the tiny holes) but it seems not impressed.
Surprisingly most seeds germinated, knowing they are about 4 years old, but it is too early to tell they will grow to be the same.

Does anyone know what kind of Lophophora this is? Thanks.

Look like a williamsii. Could do with a bit more water by the looks of it.
