C. senilis

Post by cactushobbyman »

Some time back Steve Johnson post a topic about his C. senilis. I shared how I had one plant that rotted in the middle and I topped the plant, cut out the middle part, let heal, and then an offset started. I took a picture of the cutting after it had been potted about a year to show the root growth. About a month ago I cut off the second offset and potted it and hope it will root in time. Today I was looking at the original plant and once again an offset is forming.

First offset after the original topping of the plant. 1.5 years of growth after topping.

The original cutting above the rotted part of the plant. Maybe three years now.

Great saves, CHM! Have a 3rd yr old seedling much smaller. Love to see it get like 1st offset! Love "hairy" -- even the Opuntia!
Once bitten by the cactus collecting/growing bug, there is no known cure!
There's no 12 step programme for Cactaholics...so I shall just have to get some more!!
