Seedlings abuse

Post by iann »

Here is Pediocactus sileri, not looking its best after a short heatwave. But alive!

They come up very tall, tall enough to survive an Arizona summer!

Some P. peeblesianus ("maia" I think) also pretty shrunken. Still above soil level though so hardly even thirsty ;)

P. winkleri, woolly form.

Supposed to get cooler next week so they'll all get a drink :)

so... you got hit as well... I was too late putting the shadecloth over my cacti, a LOT of damage especially on the larger columnars and opuntioids
my seedlings are all fine though

None. They germinate just fine in my lightbox with everything else.

My 1.5 months old Sclerocactus and Toumeya shrank... I didn't expect it's still alive, but surprisingly they blow up to normal "fat'' seedlings. I would suggest that shrinkage is common for Sclers of any age.

I'm watering them more now. Just had our first "frost" (not quite a frost here in my garden, but close) and there is less danger of rotting them. Some have blown up nicely, possibly not cold enough yet for some of them.
