PTCG's 2012 topic.
Yes it has taken a long time. My camera is fixed. Got tons of pictures
First one is a the bloom of the rescued from the trailer park Echinocereus. Since it finally bloomed, which one is it?
M. bombycina
M. glassii
O. macrocentra (first Opuntia of the year)
Vlad's first flower (O. aciculata)
O. englemannii first flower of the year (2 days ago)
an interesting Cylindropuntia acanthacarpa flower. It's pure yellow.. and almost green/yellow at times. this year they are more yellow than green. There are some red ones around town too.
O. aurea with it's interesting pink flower.
Hatiora gaertneri
O. englemannii AFNM
close up of the flower.
Orange O. phaeacantha flower
Orange O. ficus-indica flower. Most of the ones in BCC have flowers that look like this.
a rescued C. acanthacarpa .. with it's first bloom. I found it in the road after a storm. Picked it up, planted it roots and all and it rewarded me with a flower and it's got four more buds to go

Great stuff! I think the orange flowered one is engelmannii and the Stenocactus is vaupelianus.

Re: PTCG's 2012 topic.
thanks all.
PeterB thanks for the ID help. I went with the label that came on the plant and forgot to check the Stenocactus. lolz
The orange flowered one is an O. engelmannii now that I look at it closer. Spines ..
I will take more pictures as they all bloom and grow. And yes I will take some more hikes
FYI on the Hatiora gaertneri the camera does NOT do the red colored flower justice. It is an intense red.

Sweet!
The first Echinocereus looks like E. boyce-thompsonii.
The Mamm looks like M. melanocentra rubrograndis.

Re: PTCG's 2012 topic.
thanks guys. I can get bad with names sometimes.
Darryl thanks. I think you are right on both. I remembered that my Echinocereus were likely not E. engelmannii but I forgot which one . I got the Mamm at DBG. lost the tag.
Ian thanks. It's sorta dry so my yard is messy minus where my cacti in ground are planted.

And it's off to an impressive Spring spectacle in Arizona! You sure have great success with those "strays" that seem to follow you home, Peter!
Catch a falling star--but don't try it with a cactus!

Re: PTCG's 2012 topic.
well, in AZ most people hate cactus. In fact I could probably start a business removing cacti for people. I have gotten several pads out of the middle of the street. I have found cacti that fell off of cliffs, or someone found some and heard I liked cacti and gave them to be given to me because they didnt want them.
and Thanks
