Grafting Astrophytum seedlings

I'm trying to graft Astrophtum seedlings onto a opuntia to boost there growth but im not too sure where to graft the seedling. So far all my seedlings i grafted on the opuntia have been sucked dry. what do i do??

Opuntia's vascular bundles are much closer to the edge than, say, Trichocereus or similar. This website might help.

My Astro grafting friends mainly use Pereskiopsis for their grafting stock..
