I thought I'd share a few more shots with all of you just so you know the garden is switching from the spring burst of color to the early summer burst.
I was out shooting my Cylindropuntia spinosior when I noticed insects all over the plants, a real swarm!! They are every where!! I could hardly take a shot without seeing several in the flowers. They seem to be digging for something? Do you think they are harmful?
Those are happy bees.
John, I just went all the way through this thread...Again! And I just now noticed the fire scarred dead wood scattered around. Did you intentionaly burn down the original landscaping.
I have been collecting driftwood from local lakes and just laying it around the yard for years, never thought to actually plant any of it.

I was up in the foothills above Reno this spring and came across a two year old burned slope of Mountain mahogany. The burned twisted trunks were all still standing it looked so surreal. I collected a pickup truck full and tried to recreate the effect in the garden. I like the look of the plants growing up through and around them.
