are so we all know there are several flowers used for culinary purposes such as hops and hibiscus... are there any cacti flowers that might be used in the same way?
from my best friend sean "its F-ing cacti!"

The Indians used to eat cholla and Opuntia basilaris buds.

Flower buds of Cylindropuntia acanthocarpa and other cholla buds as well as Ferocactus flower buds are consumed after being steamed and/or pickled.The Mexican name for this dish is _cabuches_.

Havn't tried them. Saw a can of pickled Ferocactus flower buds in a market in Baja, but didn't buy it.
