Re: Had for a long time but no name

Which one? The green one? Have a look at euphorbia mammillaris or fimbriata. E. fimbriata is similar to E. mammillaris, but apparently it has more cone shaped stem tubercles. Or the gray, leggy one? Alluaudia procera can look like that when grown in the shade, but I guess it could also be euphorbia...

Re: Soft but not watered

I think Drimiopsis are winter-growers so you might need to keep them cooler, but if they're growing for you then there's obviously not a problem. :P Avonia don't want water around now so current temperatures are fine. Not sure about Tylecodons or Euphorbias. :P Euphorbia is a big genus with some wi...

Re: Soft but not watered

Probably just dehydrated. You've had higher temperatures and lower humidity than me. In fact it's probably colder than 38F in my GH right now. They'll be fine, but look out for discolouration and signs of rot just in case. :P Do you have any South African plants? I do and I thought since the...

Soft but not watered

This year has been a crazy winter. Polar vortex is hard on the plants. Most of my cactus has not been watered for months, Some mams are in bloom but I noticed quite a few are soft not bad but soft and wrinkly. Temps in the greenhouse has reached a temp as low as 38 degrees. Humidity has been a stead...

Re: New idea for greenhouse

I have a long 2ft deep by 2ft wide centre bed in my greenhouse built up off the concrete floor, raised up with concrete blocks, but the greenhouse is 9ft high to the ridge. I just chopped a few drain holes in the concrete below the bed before I built it. Depends what you want to grow bedded in sinc...

Re: Had for a long time ?

You could cut it if you want. Should wait until growth commences in the spring, so it's fully hydrated. There's always some risk the cutting doesn't take, but the stump should produce new offsets if you cut the top off - you could make more plants. You need any hints on growing cuttings? Yes, I jus...
