Another batch I'd ordered from eBay arrived today. Lots of interesting ones in this lot:

Re: Andrew's cacti collection

I finally caught the Titanopsis hugoschlechteri flowering! Luckily I have the day off -- it has been blooming since earlier in the week and it's always closed up by the time I get home from work.

Re: Andrew's cacti collection

Yeah, this seller has some really incredible plants on offer. I just hope I can keep the new additions happy and healthy for years to come. I've learned a lot of hard lessons over the years.

Re: Lithops adventures

Uh oh! I'm starting to get weird little mushroom things popping up. Time to take the pots out of the clear containers and let them dry out more between waterings? It's especially bad in the Lithops optica rubra pot. I think those are goners.

Re: Cactus Album app

No Android, sorry! To be frank, that platform is a bit of a nightmare for developers, with thousands of device and OS combinations to support, and other issues I won't get into here. Cactus Album will be iOS only.

Re: Cactus Album app

Most definitely. The database can be copied from the app either via iTunes or backed-up to your computer over WiFi. The same approach can be used to transfer the database between devices. There won't be iCloud support, but hopefully the WiFi backup/restore will still be helpful.

Re: Andrew's cacti collection

The Mammillaria is about an inch in diameter and less than half an inch high. Is it true they shrink down outside the growing season and pop back up once the rain starts again?

Re: Cactus Album app

Some great feedback. Thanks! Making the fields customizable is a good idea in theory, but in practice I've found it causes a lot of headaches when doing database schema upgrades and when importing / exporting CSV format data. How I've handled this in my bonsai app is to have a limited set of fields ...

Re: Lithops adventures

Those definitely look happy in that red lava! Did you do any sifting to get the smaller grains, or you purchased it as-is?

Re: Lithops adventures

As a comparison, I started the rest of the mesembs seeds in another pot with bagged cactus soil on the top. I don't usually like to use it because it's too fine. I'm wondering if these will do any better or worse than those in the coarser mix?
