Re: can i repot cacti any time of the year?
If I could answer your question regarding how to tell if your plant is growing after repotting: I just wait to see if any new growth starts. It can take a month or more to notice anything. Look right in the center of the plant. That is where new growth will start. You could try taking a photo of the...

Very nice. It's great it is spreading like that for you.
I went to Tropicos.com and it was a beauty products site. Must be a typo for the site you went to.

And I am trying to search the forum for topics before I post, but, I am not perfect. I hate to be the one that asks the question which has been discusse...

Re: Root behavior in porous vs. nonporous pots
Whenever I repot plants from round pots there is usually a thick circle of roots at the bottom of the pot that just go round and round. In square pots they tend to go in different directions when they hit the corner so many go back into the body of the soil. Even if they are a mass, they seem to be...

Very good growth. Your E. vivipara with the 2.5 cm body has about 3 body lengths of root. So, 7.5 cm or so? You have your scale right in the photo.

Repotting Winter Hardy Cacti
I just de-potted all of my winter hardy cacti, as well as some others. They have been potted for years now and I know some have needed it for a few years. Plus, I have new Winter Hardy cacti in the mail, so I'll be ready for a day of repotting. In the photo: First row from the top, L>R: 1-a non wint...

Re: Hello from Northern NJ USA
Just a test upload. I have some questions on these Euphorbia sp.
I see I have to use a photo resizer or post a link from a photo uploading site.

Hello from Northern NJ USA
Hi all. I've been keeping and killing cacti since at least the mid 1980's. (I've had some success, even with my neglect) I've recently ordered a bunch of winter hardy cacti which I plan to add to my existing ones. I store them in my detached unheated garage in a south facing window. I enjoy keeping ...
