Watering by dipping or pouring?
Just wondering what people do as per watering and why. I grow in Napa grit, cherrystone grit and a tiny bit of coir, just to act as binder and keep it from pouring out the drain holes. I usually flood the top of the pot and let the water run out but last time I set the plants in a tub of water for a...

Thanks Rose, I was looking all over to find pics of a Huernia with spots and the petal margins outlined just like mine but hadn't found any. I had myself settled into H. praetestans but there was only one pic that matched that name to this bloom the others with that name had a light colored corolla....

Thanks Tobias, I thought this was tiny a pot of moss misplaced at the nursery until closer inspection! What are they like to grow? Are they fussy about watering like Aloinopsis? I have it potted in Napa Diatomaceous Earth, clay grit and quartzite grit there is also a small amount of coir to help bin...

Two mystery Mesembs & a Huernia in pear tree
I picked up two Mesembs at different nurseries neither of which had tags. This one has been overwatered a bit but I'd never seen whatever it is before so I figured perhaps I could rehab it. http://www.alienflora.com/gallery/mesembsp.jpg This one superficially resembles a miniature Titanopsis. http:/...

Eulophia petersii - Succulent Orchid with Pic
Hey folks, I just got a Eulophia petersii an orchid which grows in the desert growing alongside Aloes and Euphorbias. Being a nut for the weird orchids I just had to get one of these which is sort of both types of plants. It's sort of like a cross of a short very thick corrugated cane Dendrobium wit...

Thanks Toddo! That's a great looking plant! I hope I get some red blooms like that. The bent stem on my larger one is the same as the bent stem in the back of your shot so I guess it's ok, it's not soft just seemed to bend over in just the last week or so, we did have a really hot spell (hot as Vega...
